How to Subscribe to a Customized Version of the LT Calendar

(it’s easier than it looks!)

1. Log in to your account on the LT website. If your name is not shown in the upper right corner, click on the Login button and log in.

2.Go to the calendar subscription set-up page on the LT website:

a. Go to the Calendar page, and click on “More Filters/Views” in the upper right area

b.In the third line (“Layout”), click on the rightmost option “Export/WebCal

c. In the line below that, click on “iCal/WebCal Export

d. Click on the “SETUP ICAL” button below that.

3. Select what events you want to subscribe to: Now it is time to select what events you want to show on your subscribed LT calendar in the area marked “1. Choose Calendar Options”:

a. The first box, “Shul Calendar”, is where you will specify what LT events you want to show

i.Check the first box (may be on a blank line) to include LT events

ii.Below that, the pull-down menu should say “All Shul Schedule Times”. This will include ALL LT events you can see. If you want to exclude/include some, click on the pull-down menu and check all those which you want. To go back to including ALL, click on the Uncheck All button at the top (NOTE: if you click Check All, that will include all the LT events in current categories, but if a category is later added it may not necessary be included in your subscribed calendar. So if you want EVERYTHING, it is better to click Uncheck All).

iii.Below that are three options for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Ufrus, and Weddings. Check these if you want those events included in your subscribed LT calendar.

b. The middle box, “Jewish Calendar”, allows you to include various general Jewish events in your subscribed LT calendar. (NOTE that, if you choose to include Jewish holidays they will be from the Orthodox calendar, which won’t always be the same as the Reform calendar. We are trying to get our website provider, ShulCloud, to add an option for the Reform calendar.)

c. The last box, “My Lifecycles”, allows you to choose whether to include your own specific/personal events in your subscribed LT calendar, but only works if you input those events in the relevant area of your LT account. Click on the Manage link at the top (you might want to right-click or hold-click on it and open in a separate tab or window so you don’t lose your place in the calendar subscription process) to go to your account and manage these dates – for example, go to My Family to input/update birthdays and anniversaries, or My Yahrzeits to input/update yahrzeit dates.

d. NOTE: You can have multiple subscriptions to different calendar configurations if you want. For example, if you have one child in the nursery school and another in the religious school, and you want those entries to show in different colors on your calendar, you can go through the above and below steps more than once and select different content to include in each subscribed calendar.

4. Subscribe to your selected events. Once you have selected which types of events you want shown in your subscribed LT calendar, it is time to actually subscribe under “2. Get Link”. This step will depend on what calendar program(s)/app(s) you use:

a. NOTE that often if you subscribe from one device, like an iPad, the calendar will also be added on your other computers or devices that are linked to the same account info, like a Mac or iPhone – so before you subscribe from a second device, make sure the LT calendar isn’t already showing up.

b. Google Calendar. If you are logged into your Google Calendar on the same computer/device you are using to subscribe, clicking the “Add to Google Calendar” link should work to add it to your subscribed calendars in your Google Calendar account. If you have problems, see step e below

c. Apple Calendar on iPhone/iPad/Mac. If you are using the Apple Calendar app on an iPhone/iPad/Mac and are using that device to subscribe, clicking the “Add to iPhone/iPad ” link should work to add it to your subscribed calendars in your Apple account (for Mac, see also instructions starting at step c under “Apple Calendar on Mac” below). If you have problems, see step e below.

d. If you are using Outlook, do not click on the “Add to Outlook (Desktop Version)” link – this will  import the entries rather than subscribe to the calendar. Instead, see step e below.

e. For Outlook and other calendar programs/apps, or if you are having trouble with the above links for Google Calendar or Apple Calendar/iPad/iPhone/Mac, do the following:

i. NOTE: If you haven’t already, try clicking on the “Add to iPhone/iPad” link first, even if you aren’t using an iPhone or iPad. Often this will shortcut some of the steps below, and then you can figure out how to proceed based on the various other instructions for specific programs below. If clicking on the link doesn’t work or is not clear, then go to the next step below.

ii. First, copy the web address specified in the last line after “Manually add to another web calendar” (make sure you copy the entire address, from the “webcal://” at the beginning to the very end of the whole address – on a computer, fast-clicking three times often will select the entire address, on a mobile device usually if you press and hold somewhere in the address you will get a Select All option – or else drag-select from the very beginning to the very end).

iii. Next, subscribe to this calendar web address link from your calendar program.
